Hello,
We have this one in our collection, strange shape without the fuze housing.
Is it a variant or an uncomplete grenade ?

It looks like a Gammon 247 fuze cap they were marked in red. The body markings of yours are similar to inspected ones. I have a British 77 that has had the top layer of paint remove revealing early markings. They remarked them like the one you have shown.

I also noted that the top skirt is missing, like this one in the photo.

Some of the No.79 grenades had similar (but deeper) crimped top. The one shown looks like some sort of 77/79 hybrid. A trial grenade possibly?

Thanks guys.
I don't have the grenade in hands ; I think it's only a No77 without the fuze housing and a gammon No247 (red) fuze inserted in the well.

Now I know how to make a fake or replica of a No 77, maybe using a body of Belgian M50 or M62 Of !
These grenades seem to have exactly same shape (except fuze housing and No247)
