No28 sutton fuze ??

I believe this relic is a no28 sutton fuze, all the documents i have say this fuze did not enter service untill 1917,now if these docs are correct this is clearly dated 1916 am i right assuming this due to where it was found (an old ww1 uk mortar round trialling area) that its possibly one of the prototypes..

Hi Spotter, I've seen the same date, 1917, as you have, but have you got access to the 'List of Changes' which cover that period? They usually have dates and sometimes referrals to other documents. I'm planning to do some research on these L.O.C.s later on this year, so if you want anything checked, let me know. Picture of a modified Sutton attached. Regards Trevor

was this used on just mortars only?
has anyone got a decent complete one?
