The base plug could be SGB - Stourbridge Glazed Bricks. They made MK II base plugs. Daves's website has a Southern Glazed Bricks - maybe a later version of the same firm?

Allan, you are right with SEG - Southern Engineering Group, Brighton. The company supplied 375,000 MkII base plugs over five contracts.

Hi Weasel..
Yes its a nice not messed with example all ive done is give it a wipe over with a dry cloth to get rid of years off dust, it even still strips down to its individual parts without any effort so no nasty tool marks.
