Oerlikon and Hispano rounds on board.

Any info anyone may have on these would be much appreciated. The Oerlikon rounds are all 1944. The Hispano are all wartime except three from the 1950s.

This is about all I know :)

Nice display board. I don't know much about Hispano colours but the one with a silver cartridge looks like an inspection round. Can you say what the head stamp is?
Cheers
Gary

Kagaragen,

Thank you for the pictures of your 20mm "CARTRIDGES" and the headstamp list.

In reference to the use of the word "bullet" in the above post, to be correct these are not "bullets" but are cartridges. Typically cartridges are composed of a primer, a cartridge case, a powder/cordite charge in the cartridge case and a projectile. The projectile is often called a bullet when referring to small caliber ammunition.

In your case the cartridges you show here are inert dummy/drill cartridges because they are without a powder charge in the cartridge case, are without a charge or tracer element in the projectile, without a live primer or have empty primer sockets and typically have holes drilled in the side wall of the cartridge case and the primer if present. If the projectile has a fuze, the fuze is a dummy fuze and is nonfunctional.

This may be a bit confusing at first but will eventually make sense the more you learn.

Brian
