Ord Photos

HONOURED MEMBER RIP
I'm not sure where to ask this question but this seems like as good a place as any.

I've noticed that many photos of big ordnance are taken with the stuff placed on a gravel or grass background. So, I'm curious. Why? Is that where they were found? Or is it simply because?

Not an important question I know. I'm just curious.

Ray,

If the photos are the ones I think you are refering to:

The photos with the gravel background are from a military establishment in the UK. Students are tasked to identify the item of ordnance and give a short talk on them.
