Hi, a good example, though an odd paint colour - are there any traces of older colour beneath the red/brown, especially near the tip? Would it be possible for you to post close ups of any stud markings as well as the base to see how it has been set up & of any base markings? The "E" that is visible on the rear stud signifies that it underwent a water pressure test & was hammered to find any weak spots. It also narrows down the date of this example's manufacture very neatly, to being between 1870 & August 1872. After this date the E mark was no longer used to signify that it has undergone this test process. Adrian
