Proof Rounds Markings

Interesting proof rounds showing the markings on them. The colour codes on the base and projectile tips seems random. The shotgun 410 is very clearly marked!

Proof rounds

Nice items proditto and I suspect not very often seen!

Are they specific to a particular proof house or "general" proof rounds ?

Proof rounds

Chris,
These are all from the US and were used in-house for the proof of production weapons. The company manufactured shotguns but had produced some rifles in the past. Shotgun proof rounds are more common in that the volume was very large but as rifle production was small they are even rarer. Proof rounds were tightly controlled to prevent accidents and so are not common especially in sporting calibers.

PS. On some projects we used to fire multiple proof rounds to see when a prototype action would break!
