I re-scanned this photograph and was able to identify the fuze as the Schnieder No3, a sensitive fuze type. A tracer element is likely also present or spotting would be impossible. Other wartime mountings are shown, the Soldiers with peaked caps are Belgian. The gun is a standard Hotchkiss 1 Pr. Light 37mm Navy deck gun. Cutaway image courtesy A.D.These guns were widely issued in 1915 but would have been replaced by the Model 1916 Gun.

It is worth noting the High Ventilation/Exhaust pipe with cap in the background indicating some sort of underground structure (Fort ?), also there is a large lantern visible perhaps the French version of the British Fortress Lantern.

It is a bit unclear if the tracer has a connecting channel to the main charge for self destruct, one sort of hopes so otherwise the locals might become very upset.

This post might belong in the "Guns" section, but most of these shown
the ammunition used, Mle 1888 PD common shell and the Mle. 1892 penetrating round and packing tubes in one image.
