That is lovely Dave !

Thanks for showing us.

Thanks Chris, its part of the old collection that I ended up keeping, couldn't bring myself to get rid of it to make way for all the cored rounds so its there as an example of HESH.
Dave.

I cant do the stencils printed them off and tried cutting around them with my hobby knife its not happening , tried all different ways of cutting ,i have a very fine and very sharp knife but just cant get the lettering done ? Stumped.
paint job and thats it .
This is frustrating as hell lol.:tinysmile_cry_t2: the wife is laughing (comment) of all the things you've done and built you cant do a bit of lettering , i can see the funny side .

cheers frustrated Kenny

Well it is "Anti-Armour" Dave so you can justify it on that score:D

Hi Ken,
the only advice I can give is not to give up mate,as they say practice makes perfect!,and maybe do it while the missus is out as I'm sure having the p**s taken out of you don't help mate:wink:

Cheers
Tony

once you have printed the stencil, cover it in sticky back plastic,,it will be easier to cut and also the stencil will be reuseable

Thanks, there were a few of them on the market about 10 years ago, all INERT, unfired and fully weighted with dummy propellant in their original plastic transport tubes.
Dave.

Dont give up on it!

Ken do not give up on the stencils as they are difficult to make in the first place and a good sharp knife or scalpel is essential along with a steady hand and plenty of patience.
I made up the stencils for my 8 inch Sheel from a piece of A4 paper marked out with a biro and cut with a scalpel-I am absolutely no artist whatsoever so if I can do it then anyone can !
Spotter has a very good point about making the material a lot more stable to cut and also adds life for re-use.

Perseverance dear boy !
I/we look forward to your good results

Well this is my 2nd attempt and things are not 100% spaceing /color ? etc etc , i am not going to kid myself on here , i think with my knife skills, This will do just now until my cut heals lol,...!!!!!!!!! i will touch black bits up , when all the frustration settles down i will re- stencil . .
Still it looks better than yesterday . and day before..............patience i need to practice this again as i lost this with my wife..
Thanks to you all for the great advice my quest for perfection has just started .

Cheers Ken

As part of our Ammunition Technician training we had to learn the art of stencilling on shells and packaging. The army supplied us with semi rigid waxed stencilling paper/card which we cut using specialist machines. The stencils could be re-used provided that they were cleaned with white spirit. I seem to recall that the paint came in tubes and had a relatively stiff paste like consistency. If it was thinned too much the stencilled letters ran. Brushes were also specialist items - cylindrical in shape with a very compact short stiff bristled head - we also used pieces of packaging material as makeshift stencil brushes. Maybe some of the other ex-ATs on BOCN could provide further detail.

:proud:Ken that looks great and personally I would leave it as it is.

It is far better than I could make.
Thanks for showing us all how to do it.
