Restoration next

The wife and I are avid campers and all the seven years we've been married we've been looking for an old classic bean shaped camper to restore. Well we finally found one that was not priced out of the universe. This is a 1960 Platt custom camper and the previous owner started the frame off resto. He has it reassembled with all seams re-mastiked and interior is framed in but stripped. We plan on not doing an original resto as the parts would be impossible to find. We will install A/C - bed - cabnitry and various acoutrements. We had been looking for years and this one came up on Craigs List and only about 100 miles from our home. Our work is cut out for us with this classic..Dano

Hi Dano,Yes go for it,you only have one life to live so cram what you can into it,may you spend many hours in that little classic,it looks in good shape for a van over 50 years old,
Regards and good luck,Don,

A/C installed yesterday and operational and completely rewired camper 110v and 12v. Tomorrow will start framing in bed and cabinetry and hope to be ready to camp in 2 weeks. A true labor of love. We are not restoring it persay but definately going "retro" with 50's and 60's accoutrements. It is fun...Dano
