Does anyone know the meaning of the letters RML stamped on a 117 fuze please?

Cheers,
Andy

Andy,

Is it definitely SMG not SMC?

What material is it manufactured from?

Also testing new camera!

117 MK 14, the 14 is barred out and has 10 next to it.
117 MK 8 RML 5 A F.
RML /50 MY which is barred out.
SMG 6/53 FA.

Seems it's been altered a few times!

Cheers,

RML Monogram

I believe RML was used by ROF Maltby (Sheffield) on fuzes during WW2.

SMG Monogram

Thanks Norman,it's the SMG marking that nobody seems to know!

Cheers,
Andy
Sorry Andy, I was a bit behind. I was surprised that Maltby made fuzes given their small arms work. I probably only have a subset of the info that TimG so if he couldn't find SMG then nor will I but I will take another look. Presumably the idea that Singer Manufacturing Co (of Glasgow) might be contender has been aired and dismissed, their monogram was officially SMC during the war but I wonder if post-war monograms were able to be revised - I dont have any post-war info on manufacturers markings but Tim might have.
