SD50L Restoration Complete

This has been a tough one to get somewhere near nice looking.
Most of the work has been on the sheet metal fins.

I used mostly panel beating tools and little to no filler at all.
I decided that as it was a recovered bomb then all the pitting should remain,or i would have had to skim coat everything which would have taken any originality out of the thing.

All the biggest dents were shrunk and beaten out and all the splits were brazed as it is more malible.

Slightly hasty pictures and will post some nice daylight shots soon.

Red stripes were matched from a RAL colour and the main body is grey green Ral 6006.

The locking rings i made and the fuze is an Elaz 55 which would have been correct for this bomb.

As promised i managed to get some better pics and also included another SD50 which was Defused
and used as a door stop at Brentwood Gasworks on and around 1940.

great job

The bomb turned out beautiful Phil, great job with great results. When you look at the first picture it really show just how cacked those fins and rear portion were. Will display beautifully in any collection..Dano

No problemo mate,
Will be taking some daylight shots of the filler plug and gasket detail, and what numbers still survive, also the brentwood SD50 is painted and looks kinda naked against this one:tinysmile_fatgrin_t
There will be a family group shot soon once i have another new adition hopefully;)
