Specialistauctions web site

@Ken
Agree about Ebay - they haven`t a clue.
I keep putting stuff on there as `trench art` sometimes it gets bounced, then I relist it & it`s ok??!!
I do not like using evilbay but unfortunately it gets viewed by more & I get better prices so I risk it.
I can understand the need for rules etc & that unsafe/illegal stuff has to be stopped but the people policing this site obviously do not have a clue as to what they are looking at. The fact you have no dialogue or redress is annoying as well.
Moderators, as on SA would be good - but even the SA ones now seem to be rather ineffective when it comes to disputes/problems.
In the case of Ebay - they must be making enough to be able to afford to employ someone who knows about ordnance & related to monitor it?

Ditto Hicky,
one other thing that p****s me off with gay-bay rules are that other countries ie USA are allowed to sell items banned on the UK gay-bay!
I also agree with what you say about SA moderators,I have had a couple of 'horrific' items turn up here from SA sellers, the worst was a Russian 7.62X54R,totally live and complete with the exploding bullet!!!!!,yet have had and seen completely safe and inert items being 'pulled' from the auctions.

SA back on at this end too,but still able to make a brew while waiting for the next page to load!
Has anyone else noticed that when you leave feedback in bulk you get a blank page come up with Boo! typed in it?

Tony

Hi i still cant get on SA for some reason keeps saying problem with inertnet explorer ? anyone else still not on yet ?
Flea bay has bounced me loads and other times been ok , pain in the arse !!!!! i gave up after my last lecture from them SODS !!!! prob some snotty kid who removed it to !!! Ah well good luck to who slips through there net of unfairness lol

cheers ken

So that everyone knows, the reason for SA being inaccessable for the past couple of days is that there was 'a URL conflict on the hosting site'. This was not evident to them until they were advised and they then had to take down the site in two goes. It should be working for most but may take a little longer for others. They acknowlege the server is slow, but are looking into a solution.

If anyone receives anything thay have bought from SA that is not inert they should contact the category monitor immediately. Action will be taken against the seller. If items are pulled, they are pulled for good reason and that reason is explained to the seller. If anyone is in doubt they should contact the category moderator.

Thanks

Hi BD,
you seem very knowledgeable about the workings of SA,so I think it's safe to assume that you are indeed a SA moderator yourself?
Don't get me wrong I am not having a go at SA moderators,I do actually know the under 20mm moderator, and I do understand that one moderator cannot be an expert with all items put on auction in his/her subject.
But it would seem there is a problem with AP,the one I had pulled,a .55" boys, which I did declare as inert but was pulled because I did not state the core was removed, fair enough!,I sent a photo showing the removed core and was allowed to re-submit it in auction.
Now this is where it starts to gets silly,I have also seen a 20mm MGFF AP round get pulled for the same reason and the seller had to state that the core was removed!!!!!,these rounds do not have a projectile jacket, they have a separate drive band,do not have a AP core, therefore NOT section 5.............on the other hand a Russian 7.62x54R with a red tip can only be a ShKAS bullet(incendiary explosive) and very dangerous to inert as they have an impact detonator inside the projectile.
Yes I did realise what it was,I'm sure the seller did not,I did wonder why it was cheap knowing what is involved with inerting these bullets and to be frank I had a lucky escape as I always put a ball bearing inside inert rounds that buy, lucky because I heard to propellant inside it,if I hadn't it would have gone in my inertia puller!!!!!!
I was able to inert this round myself in the end(I never want to do another one!)
I did tell the seller myself(not very politely) and haven't seen this seller on SA since.

Perhaps more than one moderator on each section with varied knowledge of that subject would work better and safer?

All the best
Tony
