There's some doubt regarding the true story surrounding the St. Paul's bomb. Lt. Davies was far from being an honest man. In 1942 he was cashiered and sent to prison for two years.
One of the main points is that Davies was cited as sparing his men from further danger by driving the bomb out to Hackney marshes by himself - it is strongly suspected that this was not the case and his sergeant actually transported it.
