Strange Krupp gun

Hopefully someone on this forum can identify this 15cm Krupp howitzer. It was captured in Palestine in late 1917 by the Australian Light Horse, possibly at Huj. There are two of these guns in Australia, one at Jamestown, SA (restored 2006) , the other at the AWM (Australian War Memorial).

The gun isn't a Krupp Model 1906 export howitzer - the Turks built about 20 of these under licence - there is a survivor at Gouburn, NSW. No one seems to know what the howitzer is - the closest is a description of one the experimental howitzers Krupp built for the 1911 Howitzer Evaluation Trials on Ralph Lovett's website. However, the build date on the Jamestown and AWM guns is 1907.

The images are from Charles Catford, the restoration team leader.

Regards,

Charlie
