T shape primer

Hello , I got recently a big hand full of dug up T shape artillery primers. Out of the fact that they all bear different manufacture markings , apparently all look to be Mark IV/L , but some bear only IV . What is the difference between a mark IV and a IV/L ?

Other question One in the lot looks to be a mark IV , bearing the Royal /Broad arrow/ Laboratory marking but it is without the side brass closing plug . Instead there is a big brass closing plug at the extremity of the T. What is this pattern ? any factory drawing to understand the inside construction?
Thanks
Phil
