Torpedo pistol

Were there different shear pins of different materials, just wondering if different countries had different specs on pistols or they found that a harder pin could result in misfires lead being one. Would love to get a safety pin for it. Are there any more pictures info on these pistols and the torpedoes they were fitted to.

Yes - for example, Whitehead provided "modified" designs for the Imperial Russian Navy, which were then built under licence in Russia - why I'm not sure?

Interesting, according to the pistol descriptions (p48 - p56) in the French Torpedo Manual 1909 (credit to SGDBDR), it makes references to both lead & "red copper" shear pins:
