Evening All,
Here's a great simple phone application that has been around for a few years now - mostly used by Travelers to perform on the spot translations like foreign signs /directions etc.
Well, for all those foreign reference books that you have been dying to translate /or read specific sections of using the good old OCR software to translate into text, then paste into an online translator - but never had the time to do it because it takes so long?
Don't waste your time!
Now there is the "Word Lens" app - freely available from either the google play /apple store and voila, your mobile phone has now just become an instant translator!!!!\\
How does it work? >>> Very simply take a photo using the Word Lens App and it will instantly translate.
I actually used it recently to translate Japanese Kanji on a storage box - after spending several hours attempting to translate the characters!!!
Basically take a photo of the text and then hit translate:
I have attach a couple of example photos highlighting the translation of some Dutch & Chinese text into English - took under a minute!
Enjoy!
Cheers
Drew
Please note: Like most translators - don't expect it to be 100% accurate, but accurate enough to read and comprehend - especially when translating some military terminology.
