Two Big Guns...

I'm Impressed !

Now That is a Gun :tinysmile_grin_t:

How did they seal the breech end.

It also looked like they were going to display two projectiles near the guns, but it didn't show that either.

Do you think all those barrels shown were off the same ship?
When I was in Seatle many moons ago I went to see the 'mothball' fleet. The USS Missouri was there at that time, very impressive sight. I beleive she now resides at Pearl Harbour close to the Arizona memorial.

great link V40 thanks for posting.

regards
Kev

The breech looaks like it was sealed with an interrupted screw type breechblock. The blocks are missing from these guns.

The 14 inch AP weighs 1500 Lb.s, the High Capacity HE weighs 1275 Lb.s. I think my AP one is stamped 1499 or close to it.

Hazord,

thanks for the info. How does this compare to a 16" gun besides the obvious dimensions?

Thanks,,Mark
