U.S. WW1 BH 18 fuze

This came today and i've never seen one before. It is a big US fuze on a relic nose cap. The nose cap is 5 1/2 inches in diameter and the second picture i've shown it next to a Scovill model of 1907 fuze for size comparison. Stamped on fuze is "BH 18 MODEL 1914-15" and "LOT 9560 48". I think it is for sure a US piece but never 100%.........Dano

Look at the time settings, should be the 45 second Combination Time Fuze, used on larger caliber shrapnel (155mm, 6-inch etc).

Hello Dano & Jeff,

The large dimension U.S. WWI era 1907-M combination fuze came in two different distance capabilities. 31 second and 45 second versions were manufactured. I've included a few photos of a 31 second fuze.

Thanks for the information Randall and Jeff. Mine has the 45 sec. ring. I was struck by the similarities between this one and the M1907 beside the size difference. I thought it was odd that is is stamped "MODEL 1914-15" (the 2 different year thing) but then again this is the first one i've had...Dano

Was playing with the fuze a bit more and found out it pretty much strips! Considering it is a relic I thought that was cool. The bottom of fuze is hopelessly stuck in adaptor but the rest of it tears down....Dano

Does anyone have, or know somewhere, I can find a line drawing of the internals of this fuze? I have the 1907-M internal images shown above, but am looking for the 1914-15 internal drawings.

were all the 45 second fuzes internally the same? We have one marked Model 1914 and one marked 1914-15. Yet all I can find is the same drawing you posted on the 45 second.
