Here I have 2 shell cases for ID that seem to be a small and big brother.
The larger case, stamped Lorenz Karlsruhe, measures 40x171R57 mm. I suspect it to be an early 4 cm Krupp mountain gun (1890's), but a later one then the 4 cm Krupp mountain gun firing the more "common" 40x150R51 mm with the thick bottom like the smaller case in this example. Does anybody know to which gun this shell case belongs?
The smaller case has no head stamp but resembles the early Lorenz Karlsruhe cases, it could have been a smaller scale of the aforementioned 40x150R51 mm. It has the thick bottom and is probably from around 1880. It measures 21,8x110R29,4 mm. Due to the caliber I suspect it is not military but maybe hunting, although it is extremely large for that purpose. Any ideas what it could be?
