I can't identify this item so I try it here.
I only have the pictures and I no that at the top the
diameter is around 11.5 cm and at the bottom 8 cm.
There are also some markings as you can see on the photo's.

Bore gauge.

Looks like it might be some sort of "Bore" gauge for studded shells ?

If not a "Bore" gauge then how about a "Jag" for cleaning out a fouled barrel with the rear threaded section taking a long rod so it can be pushed down the bore ???

Hi Chris,
I think that what you have there is the head of a whaling harpoon. I will try and dig out some information for you. Not really my thing but i am sure i have seen one before.

Here is a picture that looks very simmilar to your item, it is an explosive whaling harpoon.
