See the images below of a Bulgarian shell case dated 1914 made by Rheinmetall. The caliber is ~74 mm and the rim diameter is 87,4 mm. I suspect the case is used for a trench mortar but that is not my field.
The shell case is modified, you can see the cut on the side, and the "new" length is 127,4 mm. On the inside you see a primer adaption. This reminded me a lot of the adapted Belgian 75x278R90 to a 75x~92R90 shell case with adapted primer for a trench mortar. Shown for comparison at the right.
Does anybody know what gun fits with the original shell case? The rim diameter of 87,4 mm in combination with a mouth opening of 74 mm does not really match with anything I know. Although the rim diameter is close to the 87,2 mm double rim of the French 150 mm trench mortar, which is made from a modified 75x250DR87,2 shell case.
