Unknown Transit Plug... (Canadian?)

staples57

BOCN Supporter
Today's purchase....
I picked this up at a local military show (Cornwall, Ontario).
I think it's some type of a transit plug?

The Details;
- Steel plug (painted orange/brown in colour)
- The "cap" is 6cm in diameter
- The overall height is 2cm
- The threads are 5cm in diameter and 1.5cm tall
- The wrench fitting is 1.5cm square
- The underside of the plug is stamped with the Canadian "C Broad Arrow"

Markings;
C & S
No 1
20
II

And now for the usual question... what did I buy?

Thanks,
Brad

Brad, I'm pretty sure it is a shell transit plug that screwed into the nose of a shell instead of a fuze during transport, at least I have seen them sold as such..Dano

Thanks Dan. Any idea what the the markings indicate?

Cheers,
Brad

Dugup

No Brad, No idea what the markings indicate. Dugup used to sell them, but I think those were British manufacture and that's what they sold them as.

I saw the ones they had... nice, but a little different from mine.
I think it is a transit plug, but I'd like more info if I can get it.
...if the information isn't here (BOCN members) then it's no where

Cheers,
Brad

Transit plug Generaly used on shrapnel 13Pr and 60Pr He filled as training shell with blak powder bag

Thanks doctor!
The transport plug will be the perfect addition to my 13 PDR.

For me, I love knowing the details about the items in my collection.
...I'll move it from the "unknown" shelf to the "ordnance section" of my collection

Cheers,
Brad
