I don't know. It was given to me as a gift for the Bombatorium when I left Europe. It is US manufactured, the stamped marks are all US on the projo and case, less certain about the fuze. Based on the excellent condition etc. I would guess that it was given to the Japanese by the US following the war for use by the JDF. On different trips to Japan I was able to view numerous examples of "shared" ordnance that was co-marked. I saw the same thing in Korea with M43 mortars, marked in English and Hangul. Really wish I'd drug one of those home.
