US WWII ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) Ordnance...

Well-Known Member
I just finished removing the black paint that covered the Mousetrap ASW Rocket I bought, so I thought I'd show my little grouping of big ASW ordnance.

Left to right:
1) Mousetrap ASW Rocket (similar to the first forward-trowing depth charge, the British Hedgehog, but rocket powered)
2) Mark 6 Depth Charge (the standard depth charge used earlier in the war, along with the Mark 7)
3) Mark 9 Type 3 Depth Charge (introduced in spring 1943, it was designed to sink quicker)

Now I just need to find a fuze for the nose of the Mousetrap ASW Rocket.

These are all empty and inert of course, but still damn heavy. You should be able to get an idea how big they are from the picture next to my patio furniture.

Thanks for sharing your impressive collection. I'm surprised how small the MK9 is. They always seem larger in film or photographs.

Stunning collection of epic artifacts! I used to have the fuze for the, MARK 9. I will be on the hunt for you.

Small? The Mark 9 is 28 inches tall, 18 inches wide, and must weigh about 80 pounds. It sure doesn't feel small to me. :tinysmile_twink_t:

On the, MARK 9, Type 3, is the fuze plate original or a 3D printed stand in?

Jason

It's a reproduction Jason. I am not sure if it is 3D printed or not, the bolts are all real. It was made by the same company who made the plates for the Mark 9's displayed on USS Slater. If you need one, I am sure I have the company contact information somewhere.

Thanks for keeping your eyes open for a fuze for the nose of the Mousetrap rocket, I appreciate it.

Very cool! I ask, because I also had a set of those reproduction fuze plates, from the same source. :) The hunt is on! Got my eyes on the look out for you.

I was able to pick up a fuze for my Mousetrap ASW rocket thanks to a heads-up from a fellow forum member. Now I just need to find an original fuze adapter, or fabricate a reproduction for display.

Does anyone have a complete Mousetrap in their collection that can supply me with measurements for the fuze adapter?
