Very small fuze.

Can anyone identify this one for me please - what it is, what it was used in, how old it is. I got it today with some Victorian fuzes and wondered if it was from the same era.
All INERT etc.
The coin is a 1 pence piece for scale.
Thanks,
Dave.

old vsm

The format of VSM probably gives a clue to the date but not sure when. sorry. Can anyone put a date against any of the formats used? 2pr

This is the top from a 12pdr shrapnel i salvaged the fuze from it a while ago,but as you can see it has the same component as you have ,,Its not the fuze but a seperate part fitted into the projectile beneath the fuze.I THINK its the primer which is ignited when the fuze functions which then transfers down the central tube igniting the tin cup ejection charge at the bottom of the projectile hope this helps
allan

The drawing attatched shows a SIMILAR piece in place, yours looks to have the remains of the centre tube stil in place.
