What Happened to Dead Bodies After Big Battles Throughout History?

I took part in an Archaelogicial dig at Waterloo to try and discover where the mass grave around Hougoumont was. Nothing significant was found. It is thought, as it says in the vid, that bodies were disintered and turned into fertilizer. It's an ongoing forces charity dig called Waterloo Uncovered.
