Where was this sign used?

Does anyone know where this wooden sign would have been used please?

I'm thinking maybe a firing range?

Apologies for the poor pic,the top part with the crest reads,
THE KING'S OWN ROYAL BORDER REGT.

This regiment no longer exists as it was amalgamated with other regiments to form another, unfortunately I don't know the new name!
The sign was apparently found in a skip.

Anyway,over to the experts!

Cheers,
Andy

It looks like it was describing the weapon for a display, perhaps a KAPE exercise (Keep the Army in the Public Eye) or by the Regimental Display Team. The Regimental Museum is in Carlisle Castle, give them a bell they might be able to help

Cheers Clive!

I thought it may have been for use on a range with it saying firing post.

Ah well, wonder if the museum fancy buying it!?:tinysmile_grin_t:
