World war 1 shell identification

Beaumont

New Member
Earlier this month I was walking in the Beaumont Hamel area of the Somme battlefields and I found the badly corroded base of an artillery shell. Part of the copper strip was still attached. Allowing for the expansion of the metal from rust, I estimated the diameter to have been about 70mm. Has anyone any idea of the type and nationality of the artillery shell?
Thanks Glen

Everyone who participated in WWI had some guns in the 70mm to 75mm range. You will have as much luck finding the name of the guy who made it.
