WW2 Belgian M24 Fuze & F1 grenade

Kilroy was Here

Well-Known Member
Hi, here is some pics of my Belgian M24 fuze that came on a French F1 body. Also a couple comparison photos for size/shape reference. I collect a lot of Soviet WW2 F1's...and this M-24 fuze is funny very looking, and a very interesting design, so got it to go with my other F1's.

Is this a legitimate grenade? I have not seen too many. Who would have used them, maybe some resistance fighters? Maybe the Germans if they captured these grenades? The fuze is dated 1936.

Regards, Steve

Not that there is much interest in this post :)......but here is a couple pics with the correct pull pin for the BR-24 fuze. I made it, and the one for the Billiant fuze. I have seen 2 and 4 "loop" type on both fuzes, so made one of each.

Regards

I'm sure this is a proper WW2 Belgian grenade, but all my books are elsewhere at the moment so cannot easily check. The Belgians did use some strange combinations of bodies and fuses. Nice job with the pin etc, looks good to me. Tony.

Hi Tony, thanks, it's fun to make little things like these pull pins to improve your grenades.
No need to pull all your books out, I have found it to be a legit grenade. It is on Lex's site also.....but as an "unknown" grenade. I guess they did not have an actual designation, just a BR24 fuze with french F1 body. :D
Although if you get the books out, and find a designation......by all means post it for all to see.

Excellent Eugene, Thanks. This illustration is slightly different than the illustration on Lex's site.

Very good, It is interesting to see how they disassemble.

Part's of head (top and bottom) have a right thread with clickwork!
Need more water-soak in white spirit and roll up with two pincers.
I'm used a electrolysis method of washing.
Material of head is an aluminium - need roll up carefully!
Fuse is not dangerous but remember about two percussion cap's!
Striker usually is die...

Thanks for warning....but percussion caps are missing on mine!

The fuze body-bouchon of the BR-24 is made from "Lead"

What part are you talking about that is "aluminum" ???

Very nice photo Doctor, thanks for posting it. These are fantastic looking grenades.

So the Germans would have used these round sheet metal offensive grenades when they captured them, or did they continue making them under the occupation?

Did the German also use the Frag bodies like mine?
