Was just wondering what happened to the remaining stocks of German bombs and fuzes etc after WW2,,did they all get destroyed or did other countries use them ?

The Russians horded tonnes, there are still stock piles of them in russia, thy are slowly disposing of them.

Funny you mention that lads as there was a small article in one of yesterdays tabloids that mentioned 'German ww2 bombs found in Russian shipwreck'.

cheers

waff

Allan,

A great deal were sea dumped around Heligoland - some in less than 20m of water.

Regards

Tim

A lot is also destroyed by demolition.
As example, see the picture of men of an AIR DISARMAMENT WING at work

Where I live , large amounts of ammo and weapens have been disposed of by dumping them into big ponds , I remember when I was a kid , lived in the neighborhood of a former ammo storage , used by both sides in WW 2 , we went "fishing" at the edges of these ponds , and in summertime when the water level was low , we could simply pick the rounds out of the sand , hundreds , thousands of rounds where brought home by children in the neighborhood , altough it was forbidden , no one ever said a word,
some years ago the bomb disposal team dregged the ponds , amazing quantities of ammo where brought to demolition areas

During the war and after 1945 the Russians were using quite some German aircraft bombs as well as other ordnance.
