20 x 144R Bofors Drill round

Hi

Tubkanoner is subcalibersystems for different weapons.
The weapon existed as AA or AT-gun and was in service from 1940 until the 90.s.

There is two parts of the 1949 cataloug part 1 and part 2
part 2 is only ammo over 40 mm caliber.

The navy also used this gun + some more different projectiles.

Thanks for the information on the two loadings. I have both volumes of the 1949 catalog but they are not in them. Maybe I am missing some pages!

Dave, Nice round. Don't see many of this loading in any form. First of the drill rounds I have seen, but I am sure there are a lot out there. Here are a couple of shots of the HE-T version, including a pulled projectile. It is uncommon, but very nice. I have several versions of the Swedish catalog of ammuntion and there are a surprising number of loadings that you don't see on this side of the pond.

Does anybody knwo what "GAB" stands for?

I am pretty sure "PARTI" is the Swedish word for "LOT".

Yes, Parti means Lot
and
GAB is Guldsmeds AktieBolaget
"Gold smith Inc. "

Large producer of Pewter Lamps, silver cutlery etcetera.

The company were subcontractor of Bofors, initially to produce 20mm cases for Finland during the Winter war and when the order were canceled they obviously switched to Bofors own cases.

Cheers
