Agree with description-pity it doesn't say why Indirect Tracers were preferred by the UK, despite the expense. I believe that a special ignition mixture had to be used to facilitate ignition under pressure, so perhaps this was felt to be at risk from inferior storage conditions? Indirect would seem to be more likely to cause bore damage through debris, though!
