1 inch Nordenfeld 1939 dated

Not seen one of these before, 1939 dated, as you can see, it has the three stab crimps as usual and below that a crimp groove, can anyone tell me why this was used in 1939, it had the normal Nordenfeld projectile in it

I've blown up the picture of the base and it's NOT 1939. Depotman

It is a Cartridge Aiming Rifle 1" Electric MkIII. This was developed from the 1" Nordenfeld in the late 19th century and was still in service into the 1950s. It was also used in Land Service heavy coastal defence guns which were obtained from the RN. The case on the right is an early percussion 1" Nordenfeld.
