10 Pounder Mountain Gun walkaround

1902 built example of the tiny 10 Pounder mountain gun, used by my great-grandfather's unit - the Argyll Mountain Battery, comprising with the Ross & Cromarty Battery and Bute Mountain Battery, the 4th (Highland) Mountain Brigade, Royal Garrison Artillery (Territorial Force) at Gallipoli as well as Indian Mountain Artillery units, i, before changing for the 2.75 inch mountain gun and later 3.7 inch mountain gun. They were also used in the middle east - some were put on the backs of Talbot motor trucks and used as portees accompanying Lawrence of Arabia

Is this the famous screw gun of Kipling's tales? Where is this lovely collection?

It is a screw gun yes, but the type mentioned in Kipling's 'screw guns' is the previous type, the 2.5 inch Rifled Muzzle Loading mountain gun - almost identical apart from the difference in loading! All the photos i've uploaded of the British guns are in the Royal Artillery Museum 'Firepower!' in Woolwich, London;

There's even a 10 pounder for sale in the USA - what i'd give to be able to purchase it! I'm not aware of any other preserved 10 pounders
