12 1/2 pounder

A friend of mine has this early round, we're looking for a bit of info about it but we have never seen anything quite like it with a drive band like that, not sure if the 1/2 stampings make it a 12 and one half pounder or instead just a date. the fuze didn't come with it, just one he's cracked on there after. any info is greatly appreciated

Apparently the base is solid (so not a base eject shrapnel), and it has thick walls, so possibly an early experimental HE.
