Came across these two 12 Pounder 12 & 8 CWT drill rounds. Other drill rounds I have seen have been a wood and brass combination.
These are blank cases that have been converted to drill rounds. They have been filled with some sort of weight and sealed with a brass plate. I think that S / T stands for Simons Town naval base and the S.T. 2.62 and S/T 5 62 are the dates of the conversion.
The 12 pounder guns are still used on Table Mountain in a ceremonial role for the 21 gun salutes.
