15-Pdr shrapnel

Hi All,

Can anyone give me details of what colour the original shrapnel shells for the 15-Pdr Erhardt were painted, please? I know that some of those we made were painted grey, but were the ones that were made for us by Erhardt painted that colour, or some other?

Unfortunately the only original reference material I have seen is for the bag-charge gun, not the Erhardt!

Hello Roger,
I've had a quick look at my handbooks and can not see any colour in them but I have seen them in a dark red.
I hope this helps.
