17 Pdr Cores

I had at one point a cutaway 17pdr APDS, and I noticed the cores are not perfectly cut, the rough band around the top can be tilted a bit or wobbly, did they just need to be a general shape?

Interesting choice of footwear. Is that a US Army issue NBC over boot? From all the times I had to put those on, I would not think that anyone would voluntarily use those. Or, were you engaged in some activity that required such protective measures?

It makes sense. There is a risk that on some ranges DU debris could be find (f.e. Eskmeals, for sure).

Would those cores be obtainable? Just a question of inert ammo collector wannabe ;>

The NBC overboots are nothing to do with the cores. The boots are on a Mannequin which happens to be in the background of the picture!

The guy that has these particular cores doesn't want to get rid of any, but I'm sure other members will know where you could get one.

Cheers

The cores would have been ground to shape from a rough billet. This is why the un-ground part is irregular.
