1942 Bofors case, Is it unusual ?

A friend picked this up and it looks different
in the construction to what I usually see.
Here we have two screw in elements -
It could be nothing, but I also know nothing
about these.

It a Mk II Bofors case fitted with an adapter to take a No. 12 primer rather than the larger No. 18.
