1954 RAF engine start cartridge identification

Hi all. I have a thing about early cold war jets and picked up the below at an antiques shop over the weekend.
When I got home and had a good look over it, I noticed that there was no number/model number stamped in the base (tinkered with the base image to make more legible). It is black inside, so assuming it has been used. Can anyone shed any light on why the numbers would have not been stamped in? Thanks
