Hi Guys, I have a British 2" mortar box for a no:1 mk:2 mortar in good condition !
I have been told these are worth alot, but the guy who said that would not give me his selling price, i think he was trying to get it off me for nothing and then make money of my ass ! so i didnt sell him it, I have never seen one for sale so i cannot find out what they are worth ? can anyone tell me what one is worth nowerdays ?.?
thanks

Is this a carrier that holds six bombs or is it the steel box or a box that hold the mortar itself and made of wood.
There are two types of carrier, the first being cardboard tubes bound together with metal bands and metal end caps held together with webbing strapping, then there is the late war version which is a open steel frame carrier holding three tubes that has a clip at one end to access the tubes, each having a metal cap. The earlier carrier is very rare and worth a lot of money. If its a steel box then there was only one type that held 18 bombs in carriers, If marked up and war time dated then it would be quite expensive to get hold off but i wouldn't put to much of a high price on it. If its a storage box then it could be just over the 100 mark as 2" mortars are silly prices now days even more for the early base plate mortar.

Its the wood case ! it is the base plate model box, I have never seen a box for either before. i have seen the later mortars for 900
