Just wondering whether l should strip off the painted projectile and repaint it or not touch it.l'm thinking its been repainted already at some stage????
I don't recognise that paint colour as belonging to a service round, so (unless it's something genuine and very obscure) there's no reason to keep it. I would strip and repaint with a representative scheme, or just leave it unpainted if you prefer.
I've got a manual from the '50s for the 2pdr, nothing like that colour, unless it was a local 'drill/inert' overpaint(unlikely).
The main body should be black with possibly white(and red) band near nose.
Looks to be good condition under the paint so maybe just use a chemical paint stripper,as opposed to mechanical stripping.Or a light sanding to see if any original paint underneath?.
I used to own a 2pr exactly the same color and could never explain it.i brought it with several 2pr rounds(some were painted other non standard colors) from an auction years ago.as I said it was exactly the same sky blue
now that's got you thinking!
