I'm looking for some information regarding the British 20lb smoke bomb/No 7 smoke generator.
Picture 1 shows the design drawing.
Pictures 2 and 3 show physical examples.

What i'm trying to establish is whether these are infact the same thing or whether they are different items.
Meos Black Book lists it as a No 7 smoke generator.

Any information would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Pete

Pete,

I have a CIA drawing of this which has a few entries which might be helpful:

1. It is annotated " REMARKS. For Record. Transferred to M.A.P." (MAP Is Ministry of Aircraft Production)
2. The title is GENERATOR, SMOKE, No 7, MARK I /A/ (A makes it an Air store)
3. Marked "BOMB TO BE PAINTED GREEN"
4. Drawing sealed 12-2-35 which might correlate with your drawing seal date if you can read it.

Norman,

Thanks for this info. I have done some further digging and it seem that this is the same item.
My drawing date is 1937.
Meos goes into some detail, explaining it's design and purpose of use. I'll write it up later when i get 5 minutes.

Cheers

Pete
