240-MM French

I am looking for information on the French 240-MM Chemical shell. One of the old US chemical books has it listed as the No 5. Very little to nothing is known on the round. Possible phosgene fill (coincides with the No 5).

Any idea if this round was real? Any images available?

Thanks,

Joe

Joe,

I don't think there was french chemical shells above 220mm.
What "old US chemical book" is it ?

Cheers,

S.

It’s mentioned in the “Old Chemical Weapons Reference Guide”. But this document is full of errors, so I wouldn’t trust it…..

“Old Chemical Weapons Reference Guide”

That's what I was thinking. But it references another document. Even then, it was an old German intell report. "Chemical Warfare Intelligence Bulletin No 9 French Chemical Agents and Ammunition."
