25 Pounder BE Smoke Shell

I realise there are a lot of these about, but it was only a tenner and I had a hunch it had good restoration potential. (Note the lack of damage to the threads on top) So I think it was proved and it just needs some patches of pitting filled in before a repaint. I have a couple of queries I hope someone can help with:

How accurate is the 25PR smoke shell stencil sold by Milcorem?:

(Near the bottom of the page) I’ve been doing lots of googling, but I’m unsure. E.g. Should it include ‘BE’ ?

If anyone has some to compare, how close is Humbrol 117 US Light Green to Bs381c 225 Light Brunswick Green?

Yes it should contain the letter B here is an original pic of a pair (not my pic) and one from a document i have.

I may go DIY for the stencils then. I think it’s Canadian as the fuze appears to be marked ‘SM/C 4/42’ and there’s what looks like an arrow in a C stamped on the body of the shell. Unfortunately the majority of the markings on the fuze got ground off on impact. I’d guess the threads at the top are OK because it had a Bakelite ballistic cap that shattered on impact.

The end result. As well as the undamaged threads on the top of the fuze, I had two further bits of luck with this. Firstly was finding a chap on QFA selling repro ballistic caps for the No.221 fuze. (It screwed straight on without problems) Secondly was finding some pictures online of a 1942 Canadian made shell with it’s original paint and markings. I liaised with the chap who does Questmasters restoration supplies in the US and a week later a custom stencil set copying them arrived.
