Howdy Blackwatch,
I have seen these rings in cardboard transit tubes for 25pr AP shot, they are used to centralize the projectile & hold it in place within the tube.
I cannot see any remnants of AP boxes amongst your pile of rust, but they must have been there at some time!

Thanks m8 , no I haven,t found any boxes for the
AP projectiles.I was there for 63 years.
