On 17 Mai 1941 a Beaufort bomber of 22 squadron RAF dropped five General Purpose bombs on the Aerodrome "De Kooy" in the Netherlands.
Two of the bombs where named "250 lb. Silloth Rods".

What was the purpose of these Silloth Rods, and has someone a picture of these rods?

Thanks,

But why 2 bombs with rods and 3 without.
What was the fuzing of the bombs?

Bomb Extension Rods

Hi Antoon,
The answer to the "Silloth Rods" I do not have, but I've attached some bomb extentions fitted to German / Japanese Bomb with a brief run down on why, hope it helps clear things up or help point a member towards the answer you seek.
