Hi, just received an ammunition box for my birthday, the markings on it are as follows, P59 MK2 MC 1945. I tlooks very similar to the pictures here. Would I be right in assuming it would have been used to store the shells in your pictures? Also, what would have fired these shells?
I just handled some of these at work today. There is a large frame part missing from your box near the top that corresponds to the circular cutouts in the base. You might be able to see where the welds holding it on with were. The box contained 8 Cylinder 527 mk1 holding 25pdr carts.
